US cooperation with the Middle East in the fight against the Islamic state

The Islamic State's phenomenon has been the subject of many analyses since its inception, and in 2018 it is a very dynamic, dynamic issue with a global dimension. The main goal of the bachelor thesis is to find out in what way the approach to defeating the "IS" in the four major powers, except the USA, also in the concepts of Russia, Iran and Turkey based on a search of available literature, domestic and foreign articles and analysis of elaborated strategic documents. The Middle East is a region where the interests of global actors meet the national interests of local powers. This work also aims to define the ways in which the Islamic State influences and influences the strategic interests of four selected actors: the United States of America, Russia, Turkey and Iran. Analytical and descriptive methods are used in the work. Because of the topicality of the issue, it is largely drawn from internet sources, in the form of expert analyses and newspaper articles, to a lesser extent from the final works and book publications.

Causes and Impact of the Increased Engagement of Russia in the Middle East

This bachelor thesis examines the problematics of Russian engagement in the Middle East with regard to the Syrian civil war. The aim of the thesis is to analyse what are the main causes of Russia's increased presence in the region. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russian Federation lost its superpower status, and therefore the ability to control a strategic region such as the Middle East. The current Russian foreign policy under President Vladimir Putin strives to reclaim this potential. The Middle East region has recently gone through violent events of the Arab Spring; thus it offers Russia ideal platform to implement its interests. In addition, the country is motivated by its own strategic and security concerns. Furthermore, the thesis examines what are the possible consequences of Russian involvement. Syrian civil war has spilled over into almost every bordering country and even the Russian military intervention did not achieve to end the conflict. Although the development of the war is shaped by numerous external circumstances, it is apparent that Russian Federation will have the major influence on the peace negotiations.

American Foreign Policy and the Arab Uprisings in Egypt, Libya, and Syria

The Master Thesis American Foreign Policy and the Arab Uprisings in Egypt, Libya, and Syria concentrates primarily on the conflict between democracy promotion and pursuit of strategic and security interests within the U.S. foreign policy with respect to uprisings in Egypt, Libya, and Syria that broke out in the beginning of 2011. The thesis also concentrates on the processes and the tools used by the United States to support either democratization efforts or their vital interests and how these processes were publicly communicated. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part analyzes history of democracy promotion in the U.S. foreign policy and its conflict with interest-based stability promotion. The second, and the most extensive, part examines the uprisings in Egypt, Libya, and Syria with an accent on the U.S. foreign policy. The third part seeks to identify patterns and features of the U.S. foreign policy with respect to the uprisings in the mentioned countries using the facts mentioned in the previous two chapters. The thesis uses mainly newspaper articles and expert opinions as the principle sources.
